Getting Started

Initial Phone Consultation

I’m happy to spend 30 minutes on the phone with you to answer your questions and to hear about the challenges or difficulties you’re having. This will allow both of us to get a sense of whether my experience and approaches fit your needs. When we meet for a first session, I do charge my usual fee, because I find that the therapy process begins right away -- the building of the relationship, your first experiences of being heard and understood and sometimes my giving you some beginning coping strategies.

When we set an appointment we’ll talk about logistics like fee, parking and detailed directions to my office.

Fees

My fee for a 50 minute session is $125.00. I maintain a small number of lower-fee slots. If you believe you might need to pay a lower fee, please check with me to see if any of those slots are open.  I take checks and cash and sometimes make arrangements via PayPal.

Insurance

If you are hoping to use your health insurance to help pay my fee, an important step in our initial phone call will be for me to get your insurance information. Because both of us have a stake in your insurance company’s coverage, it’s important that we both call to get the details. I’m an in-network provider for a small handful of companies; if your plan covers out-of-network providers, it will cover me. Using insurance can sometimes compromise the confidentiality of your therapy, because some companies demand specific information about the focus and progress of therapy; therefore some people choose to do self-pay.

Upcoming EFT Workshops

EFT for Helping Professionals - A Two Part Workshop

EFT is a terrific tool for managing work stress and secondary trauma, and if you’re ever going to use it with clients, you need to be familiar with it yourself.  In Part I of this workshop you will learn to do the technique for yourself and start applying it to work or other stresses. You will also hear about the history and research behind it.  In Part II you’ll learn some refinements and work on how to teach it to clients as an extremely valuable self-care skill.  This will not equip you to use it as a broad ranging clinical tool, but there are lots of sources for that further training and this will get you started, with hands-on instruction.

Part I  --  Saturday, September 8th, 2012, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Part II  --  Saturday, September 29th, 2012, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Cost:  $60.00 for each part separately, $110.00 if you attend both.

Students:  $50.00 for each part separately, $90.00 if you attend both.

Location:  My office

Space is limited so please make your reservation early by email or phone.

EFT for Managing Stress and Anxiety

This workshop is for anyone who would like to have a new strategy for reducing the negative effects of stress and for decreasing anxiety. You will learn how to do the technique, get plenty of practice, use it to get some improvements right during the workshop, and learn how to apply it to challenges that may come up in the future.  You’ll also get some bonus stress management  techniques from energy psychology.

Date:  October 20th, 2012

Time:  9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., one hour for lunch

Cost:  $70.00, $60.00 students

Location:  My office

Space is limited, so please make your reservation early.

EFT for Fear of the Dentist

If you avoid going to the dentist because it’s just too scary, this may be the workshop for you.  You’ll get the basic instruction in using it for stress and anxiety, as above, but you’ll also use it during the workshop to immediately begin unravelling your fears.  Later, if you need to, you’ll also be able to use it the day before and even just before the appointment, to allow  you to comfortably get the dental care you need.

Date:  November 3, 2012

Time 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., one hour for lunch

Cost:  $70, $60 students
